It is all illusion!!!

Recently watching a so called "ghost" movie Oculus, made me go deep into certain issues though the element 'Ghost' had no profound meaning in it.

It is just about a possessed mirror that traps its victims through illusions, making you believe what is not true and fooling your brain. Maybe reading several psychology articles would enlighten us all here in this context. There was no information given as to how and why it is possessed. Its just one mirror that loves killing people.

Though I must admit, the director and the producer have put a lot of thought into it as the whole story sways between flashback and present. Thus, we end up starring at the screen totally perplexed as we have just failed to distinguish what as already happened and what is happening at present. As to me, yea, spending money and time to travel to a nearby mall filled with inimical urban atmosphere just to watch a ghost movie with no ghost in it was too fatiguing. That too, when the sad news of twin bombs blasting in the Central Railway station and our city being under threat left us all astonished, I didn't expect to see such a crowd in that arena.

Finally, here comes the story line: Actually, its the same that you would find in any other ghost stories (as well as the one we all have known from 'The Conjuring') A family (parents and two kids) shifts to a new home where they experience the so called paranormal activity and then finally the people there lose their minds and they all terribly die. Its always a strategy that people follow or rather a rule that it is always the ghost that should win and a part two of the story suddenly stands in front of you before you know it. (Maybe a few movies like Conjuring comes under the exception but this movie comes under the rule) However you find a slight twist here, as the ghost is not really in the house or a part of it (like the cellar) but it is a mirror that this family would have purchased! And its a mirror, obviously it should screw people with only illusions. Yes, it drives the parents mad and they die but somehow the kids alone escape and they make a promise that they would come back and kill it. (like its gonna happen). When they grow up and come back to accomplish their goal, they somehow manage to get caught in its trap again. (like I said, the ghost must win to prove its awesomeness).

Leaving that behind and coming back to reality, it would make most of us wonder if we are living in an illusion created by our brain. The life that we life is just made up by ourselves and the quality of it reflects on the way we look at ourselves. Maybe you can change by slightly tuning your thoughts. Yes, the effect it gives doesn't equal 'Shutter island'or 'Inception' where we actually pin ourselves in a room to discuss about certain intricate issues. When you don't find yourself feeling as eerie as you are supposed to while watching a horror movie, this is what most of us would think of.

And finally, I wouldn't say it was a complete waste of time but can prefer it in case you don't want to watch any other thing but need a slight distraction to take load off of shoulders for a while.

randomness!!!!!!!!!

Yes, now we all know that social networking sites are becoming really popular these days. It can be strikingly noticed by each n every single individual on this "little" world, where that barrier of distance which prevailed and scared humans a long time ago is now rapidly diminishing. When I say social networking site, I know that the word “Face book”   was the first thing that came to your mind. Well, you can’t be blamed for that, because people love swarming on it more like the bond that flies have with food and all the other fly-o-philic stuff.  These days, even bragging has become one of the simplest things to do. You just type all the crap you want, hit “share” and violĂ ! Everyone actually buys it!
I recently came across a viral post on facebook, success= 6-5-4-3-2-1-0
That means- get a 6digit salary, work just for 5 days a week, have a 4-wheeler vehicle, a 3-BHK apartment, 2 maniacs (I know that you got it, but this is actually how I describe them), 1 possessive overbearing stranger who enjoys stealing your freedom and your money (yes, you figured this one out too) and finally, 0 tension (now this, I am saying, is just too much to ask! Do they actually think that they are living in a fantasy?)
Thanks to the advancement in globalization, people consider brain drain to be a “latest trend”.  “Everyone respects you if you tell them that either you or one of your family members is studying abroad or settled in a foreign country “has become a common notion these days.
The Protocol that most of us follow- grow up, do your UG somewhere abroad (if not UG, PG at least), try to follow the 6543210 rule(or rather the 654321 rule), maintain a facebook account side by side (we never forget that, do we?) and keep bragging about everything that you can think of (so that your pals and friends of friends can poke their heads into what you’re doing, throw an uncomfortable stare at you and treat you like you are a celebrity)

What we fail to understand here is that,
While one microscopic part of the world is safely under the umbrella of glamour, comfort and selfishness, the other major chunk is suffering from poverty. The right to education which is really vital for survival here is being denied to them just because they need more financial aid. We all should try to be more of humanitarians. It would really do good to the society if everyone under the umbrella put out their helping hand, reach and share our world that promises comfort, transitory happiness etc.

That is actually when we should say that success has been achieved.

An odd dream of mine

The 16 year old I am sitting in English class with a long face thinking about how to make my dream come true.
There is just something within me which gives me an urge to make it possible. Questions such as-"Will this remain a dream forever or would I be able to make it come true?" keeps haunting me. It provokes a feeling of... something strange, may be its low self esteem or scare or guilt because of not working sincerely.  This just made me shiver for a second. I now feel goosebumps raising on my arms as the cool air jets out of the air conditioners of the class. Why is this sudden fear popping up? Is it because I flunked in physics and computer science? Or is it because I am really scared to face the world?
I wish I could meet the 30 year old me and ensure if  it is really safe to come out of the shade, face the light emitted by the real world and ask if the the light is bright, gives warmth or heat, shoulder of support or a kick backward, a path full of difficulties or challenges. If I do ask, I hope I get a positive reply from the future part of me , assuring , "yes, the light gives warmth, offers a shoulder of support, it is full of challenges against which you can always combat and win , you can sprout out and display your real talents and show yourself distinctly."  Perhaps I am just exaggerating, or maybe the light itself is not as bright as it seems from the shade.

I want the 30 year old I to have earned loads of money with a job I love, a big bungalow with slides and trampolines instead of staircases and many other interesting elements, to entertain myself.  My ultimate aim is have many adventures, new experiences and like unexpected twists. yup! that is of course better than a monotonous way of life.

At present,  I find myself in reality, slogging to pass my 12th board exam, prospecting to come up with flying colours and expecting to look back at the 16 year old I, with a smile of assurance denoting,"Everything is going to be all right. Just be bold enough to come out of the shade, the light will always be on your side, encouraging you whenever you fall and backing you up when you need motivation".

Rewinding the old childhood days!!!

It was a long time ago
when I wasn't able to take care of myself

some say I was a kiddo
some say I was as small as the Pluto

There stood he,
longingly waiting for me

giving me supper
As soon I enter,

I, knowing no words of appreciation,
gifted him with words of negation

Oh yeah! a great person he was!
shaping every bit of my past

Our friendship strengthened

As the years moved on
as swift as we never even imagined

Games that we played on our "vetti" days
the way we used to cheat in those games

The multiplication tables which I was forced to mug up
The nickname which he called me with
The sweets which he bought for me while escorting me back home
aww!!!!! Those cherishing memories!!

Leaving his imprints on my mind,
which still lays there unerased
And giving me a hand-in-hand
was the major role he played...

I keep Rewinding those days,
thinking of the memorable times we shared
As I recollect my grand father
or should I say - my first best buddy!

The ultimate exam fever!!

hi.. I am Mongu.

I had a nightmare on the day of my science exam. It was May end. Board exam results were published. I, as usual was inquisitive to know about my grades. I was stunned on seeing all my grades!!! I got a "D" in everything!!!! how is this ever possible!!!

suddenly, I woke up and threw a glance at my clock. It was 6 am. I was instructed to sleep for 1 hour additionally on the day of exams. Thanks to the nightmare I couldn't sleep further. I decided to revise the whole of the book as I had 2 long boring hours. I was fully tensed. I read it more than thrice ( before my cluster common exam, preboard, revision 1 and 2) but still it was like i forgot everything. A sharp pang of guilt ran through my veins as I realized that I had been wasting my time throughout my study hols. I strongly felt that I would have gained more confidence if I had prepared sincerely for my exams.

As I quickly glanced through the pages of the text book , These awful words ran through my mind, "That's it Mongu. game over. This is the last minute. You cannot increase your grade even if you study hard now. Whatever is destined, let it happen. Write whatever you know and be happy with your grades. Use your common sense and finish the paper off." I knew that I had no other choice but to listen to these words. Hence, I closed the book.

After all this, I found that the time is just 7 o'clock. I resolved to sleep again.
As the Sweet hours of the morning passed by, I peacefully lay asleep on the bed. Unfortunately these wonderful moments did not last as long as I wished.
Suddenly I heard an unpleasant noise and woke up with a start. It was the alarm of the clock. I gave it a rankling look while it tick-tocked innocently. It ruined all my happy moments. The only thing which I hate the most on this earth, is certainly that clock of mine!! It provoked anger within me each morning.

Cursing my clock, I lethargically got up, brushed my teeth and was getting ready to go to the exam centre. I was right on time. When I reached the place, students were already engaged in finding their new rooms. I quickly rushed in and found my new room and desk. I innocently looked at my roommates. They revised, revised and revised. Some were discussing  new concepts and were arguing that their answers were correct. I, on the contrary, did not understand any of the words conversed by them. They all looked as if they were reading these for ages. I knew that I didn't study much. But still, I badly wanted my grades to be high. This was the time when I wished my prayers to be answered.

when I realised that it was already 9.55, I saw two invigilators coming in. One was a bit shorter compared to the other. Both wore glasses. They looked so stern. By looking at their faces, I understood at once that they would not give room for anything. Like all the other invigilators do, they started to give instructions and asked us to fill our answer sheet. Inspite of the exam tensions, I filled it correctly. They started looking at our answer sheets to make sure we have done it correctly.

All of a sudden, I heard one of the invigilator scolding a boy just because he didn't follow the instructions and messed it all up. I clearly remember her saying, " What have you done? Are u stupid? why didn't you follow the instructions??" Its before writing the exam. I felt that Instead of frightening, she could have said in a more polite manner. There came all kinds of scoldings. Finally, the question paper was issued. I was rather stunned on reading the questions. I knew most of the questions. I thought I would flop and probably end up in getting 'D'. After reading, I was sure that my grade won't be that bad. I started to write. After 2 hours, I completed the paper. I thankfully looked up as I was very happy to find my prayers being answered finally.

I heard one of the invigilators saying to the other,"I thought southerners have good brains but its really shocking to find that they cant even follow the instructions and fill their answer sheets properly!".
She asked us about our future plans, goals, ambitions. When she asked the students who wanted to be an MP to raise their hand, she was shocked. No hand rose up. She said we do not have any originality and that we would always prefer to follow the beaten track rather than trying a new field.

I hated every single second of sitting inside that room. Since I had finished the paper, I didn't like to be there at all.It kept reminding me of my exams and caused me a big headache.
I longingly waited for the bell to ring. Then, I felt a sudden spurt of excitement rushing within me. I was happy... Happier than ever! That was my last exam!!! Its my summer hols now! Two long months of joblessness! wow!! I was the first to run out of the gate on that day. Now, here I am enjoying my jobless day and writing about my experience. The only thing I like about exams is that after its over, long days of doing nothing (holidays) always comes up to cheer you up. Its more like having a dessert after a salty meal.

Party of a lifetime

"come on Darshitha!! it is already 1.25!!! come fast or else we will be late for our farewell party!!!!" said my fifteen year old friend. My name is Darshitha and I am in class ten. My best friend, xena and I have planned to go to the party together. We are not allowed to bring a cell phone but we thought of bringing it just for the fun of breaking rules. Our school has made so many restrictions from dress code to the things that we were supposed to bring. It was like we were attending a formal farewell. My cousin who is studying in another school has told me about the way in which they celebrate farewell. She told me that they have no dress codes and the teachers generally do not attend the informal party. Its between the students only.

I came to my living room where xena was waiting, thinking about their way of celebrating. xena yelled at me saying "Oh no Darshu!! we are late!! quick take your bicycle and we have to drive  as fast as we can to reach there on time!!!"

I did as she instructed and we came to the school auditorium in no time.We met all of our friends. Some wore sarees and some wore salwars. All looked as if they were around 20. My section is composed of a variety of peculiar people. There is a girl called Ritu (the one who behaves exactly like a queen bee) in my section who was constantly whispering something to her friends' ears. Her friends never stick on to their own ideas. They always tend to agree with whatever the queen bee(Ritu) says. Its obvious that they are not individualists.Their "FLEXIBLY changing ideas" can be strikingly seen sometimes.Their behaviour usually remains hidden to the eyes of an ordinary viewer. Okay , coming to the party..

unfortunately , the program started a little late .. at around 2.15 as my school correspondent showed up very late. Our formal farewell party started and it was extremely boring. We were very much thankful to our mobiles without which, it would have been difficult to pass our time. The initiation part was full of humdrum. It was more like a program than a party. To be more frank, it should be called as "The farewell program" not "farewell party" so that the juniors who are attending it for the first time wont be misguided. Then, the moment that we were all waiting for- "Entertainment" began. The dance was awesome and was really fun filled.

Finally the time came to announce the most obedient, sincere, responsible students of the whole tenth. Two students (Mr.school and Miss. school) will be selected by the ninth standards. They also get awards for their good work.Well, It may not be deemed that only the deserving students get it.
These are the astounding gifts given to them as a token of appreciation - a crown , a sache that says Mr or Miss school, a teddy bear with a heart(that says "we miss you") and an artificial flower. The winners are put under an obligation to pile up the words of thanks for everyone who voted for them and the teachers(if they want). Three-fourth of the tenth graders usually dream of getting the award and these amazing gifts are awarded only to two of the most luckiest students . Hence, it is a memorable moment for everyone and is considered to be the award of a lifetime.

My school has the practice of giving a gift to all tenth graders who come to attend the party. They gave a calculator last year and we heard that they are going to give handbags and wallets. The games part started when I was wondering why the gifts were not given yet. Each of us were given a piece of a coloured paper. The people who had green paper were selected to play the game. The game was simple. It was like a quiz. A Question will be asked to each student about Chennai and they have to answer it. If their answer is correct, then they are selected for the next round.

A bunch of "mini quiz masters" asked the questions.
The first question- " What is the most congested place of Chennai?"
A student replied ,"G.N. Chetty road"
quiz master - sorry! wrong answer!! the correct answer is Paris.

next question - What is the total population of Chennai?
OMG! the question looked as if the answer is sure to be wrong!!

All of us live in Chennai but we could not answer the questions asked about our own city!!

One by one..the questions were asked and the students were being eliminated. Luckily an easy question was asked to a girl and she answered it correctly. she turned out to be the only one selected for the next round. All were eliminated. She was declared as the victor as no new round of questions can be asked to 1 student alone.

We couldn't guess what was given to her as a prize as it was all wrapped. SO we simply guessed that it has to be a pen stand or a drinking mug. What else would they give???

eradicate child labour!

prologue: how will you feel if a little kid is being tortured in front of your own eyes???? here is a similar story.

story: It was the time when the sun peeps out of the purple headed mountains, acquainting the roosters to "cockadoodledooo!!!!" thereby awakening the sleepy inhabitants up to the real world. When the people were slowly waking up and making themselves ready to execute their monotonous work , there slept a little lad who was carried away by his endless dreams. In his dictionary, the word "sleep" means " luxury" the one which does not find a place in his regular routine.

"There he lays.... on the floor", one said

"yeah but look at his tattered dirty clothes. He must be cold. Poor boy!!!!" exclaimed the other

"he works hard for his living and yet finds it extremely hard to survive"commented the third.

By this time, the sun started to rise up and its slanting rays flashed at Kailesh's face. He slowly came out of his never ending dreams and opened his hazel colored eyes. As he started to glare at the sky, he started to think about himself.
about the lad: His name is kailesh. His parents were living in a village. They sent him to a town to acquire his basic education. In order to take care of his basic needs, he desperately searched for a job. Finally, he got one at a petrol bunk. His job is to fill the vehicle's tyres with air. He visits his parents once a year and finds it difficult even to post a letter to them.

Just then a stout, self centered ragamuffin began to kick him. "wake up you lackadaisical brat!!!"
people who were passing the street felt bad for kailesh as he was treated badly.

epilogue:
this is not an imaginary scene.... some children are treated badly by the evil, life sucking ones . Here is one similar story which happened in front of my own eyes. Last week i went to a nearby petrol bank to fill the fuel tank of my vehicle.
There, i saw a small boy at a corner, filling the tyres of all the vehicles with air... working as hard as he ever could.
A man saw him working hard and felt sorry for the little lad and gave a tip. The boy's face was filled with happiness and then i could see that his joy faded suddenly. He rejected the money with a sad face. The man persuaded him to accept his tip but the boy was stubborn.
Then another uncle came to that spot. He was standing a few blocks away from the air machine. The boy gently pulled the air tube towards the vehicle.
Then all of a sudden, the owner of the bunk entered the spot with ferocious eyes that I thought he has come to kill the boy!!! the owner came closer and he spank the boy on his head so hard the boy fell down to the ground. i heard the owner saying these words, " evlo dahdava sonnen indha mari pannadha nu.... ask the man to come front idiot!!! dont pull the tube towards him! do you understand me???"
The people who were witnessing this scene felt sorry for the boy and the man came closer to the machine feeling guilty. The boy was about to cry.

what is this??? can you see whats going on here?? did you see the way in which that boy is being tortured by the owner???? he is facing the same fate as that of kailesh!!! we must put an end to this. so i request my blog readers to suggest some measures which can be taken by us to punish all heartless people like that owner.
