Yes, now we all know that social networking sites are
becoming really popular these days. It can be strikingly noticed by each n
every single individual on this "little" world, where that barrier of
distance which prevailed and scared humans a long time ago is now rapidly
diminishing. When I say social networking site, I know that the word “Face
book” was the first thing that came to your mind. Well,
you can’t be blamed for that, because people love swarming on it more like the
bond that flies have with food and all the other fly-o-philic stuff. These days, even bragging has become one of
the simplest things to do. You just type all the crap you want, hit “share” and
violĂ ! Everyone actually buys it!
I recently came across a viral post on facebook, success=
6-5-4-3-2-1-0
That means- get a 6digit salary, work just for 5 days a
week, have a 4-wheeler vehicle, a 3-BHK apartment, 2 maniacs (I know that you
got it, but this is actually how I describe them), 1 possessive overbearing
stranger who enjoys stealing your freedom and your money (yes, you figured
this one out too) and finally, 0 tension (now this, I am saying, is just too
much to ask! Do they actually think that they are living in a fantasy?)
Thanks to the advancement in globalization,
people consider brain drain to be a “latest trend”. “Everyone respects you if you tell them that
either you or one of your family members is studying abroad or settled in a
foreign country “has become a common notion these days.
The Protocol that most of us follow- grow up, do your UG
somewhere abroad (if not UG, PG at least), try to follow the 6543210 rule(or
rather the 654321 rule), maintain a facebook account side by side (we
never forget that, do we?) and keep bragging about everything that you can
think of (so that your pals and friends of friends can poke their heads into
what you’re doing, throw an uncomfortable stare at you and treat you like you
are a celebrity)
What we fail to understand here is that,
While one microscopic part of the world is safely under the umbrella of
glamour, comfort and selfishness, the other major chunk is suffering from
poverty. The right to education which is really vital for survival here is
being denied to them just because they need more financial aid. We all should try to be more of humanitarians. It would really do good to the society if everyone under the umbrella put out their helping hand, reach and share our world that promises comfort, transitory happiness etc.
That is actually when we should say that success has been achieved.
